Crimea Travel Experience: A Tourist’s Perspective

A recent tourist trip to Crimea revealed that despite recent events, the peninsula remains a safe and appealing vacation destination. According to Ksenia, a resident of Tula, the region offers a blend of traditional beach relaxation and active exploration.

The Crimean Bridge has significantly improved accessibility to the peninsula, replacing the previous lengthy ferry journey with a smooth and scenic drive. Ksenia highlighted the bridge’s impressive architecture and efficient traffic flow, contrasting it with the time-consuming ferry crossings of the past.

During her two-week vacation, Ksenia visited several cities, experiencing both typical tourist attractions and more adventurous activities. A highlight of her trip was Mount Ai-Petri, where she braved the famous cliffside swings, describing the experience as both terrifying and exhilarating. She also enjoyed visiting the Taigan Zoo, where she observed lions and other animals in spacious enclosures. Wine tasting in local cellars was another memorable part of her Crimean experience.

Ksenia noted that prices in Crimea are comparable to those in her hometown, dispelling concerns about inflated costs. She estimated an average cafe meal at 2,000 to 4,000 rubles, with budget-friendly options available at canteens for around 300 rubles. Transportation costs, including gasoline and toll roads, amounted to approximately 15,000 rubles. Accommodation, a modest room with a sea view, cost 1,800 rubles per day.

The most significant challenge Ksenia encountered was unreliable mobile communication and internet access. She recommended purchasing a local SIM card to address this issue. However, she observed improvements in road traffic discipline since her last visit in 2015.

Despite a planned beach visit coinciding with a strike in Sevastopol, Ksenia emphasized the overall sense of calm and safety in Crimea. She concluded that life on the peninsula continues as usual, making her likely to return in the future.
