A new transformer garden is being created on Moscow Square in St. Petersburg and is scheduled to open for Russia Day. The project, overseen by Vice-Governor Evgeny Razumishkin, is nearing completion.
The garden will feature a unique geoplastic design, involving an artificially created relief. The space will be adorned with 72 linden trees, 12 varieties of shrubs, and 19 types of flowers, with sunflowers adding a vibrant touch.
Modular benches and plant-themed lamps will be installed throughout the square. The project is similar to a plan that was initially scheduled for 2024 but was postponed due to repairs on the Lenin monument.
According to the state contract, work is expected to be finished by June 10. Two tenders, totaling 60 million rubles, were awarded to PSF “Kort,” a major landscaping contractor in the city, for the garden’s creation.
This project follows the recent opening of a transformer garden on Isaac Square on May 27, which cost 70 million rubles. Additionally, a transformer garden is planned for Yakornaya Square, also in time for Russia Day.
At the end of the season, trees from the transformer gardens are transplanted to various green spaces throughout St. Petersburg.
