Araz Kazimov, 35, has been sentenced to eight years and one month in a strict regime colony for the murder of a mother of three in the Pushkinsky district. The St. Petersburg Prosecutor’s Office announced the sentencing on June 10.
The crime occurred on April 11 in an apartment on Starorussky Prospekt in Shushary. Kazimov brutally beat his wife before inflicting at least 33 knife wounds and 10 stabs with a sharp object.
The woman died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court granted a claim for three million rubles to be paid as compensation for moral harm to the victim’s children. The Pushkinsky district prosecutor’s office’s position was taken into account by the court when deciding the sentence.
