An overpass will be constructed over the railway near Shatura in the Moscow region to alleviate traffic congestion caused by frequent closures of the existing crossing. The head of the city district, Nikolai Prilutsky, announced the project, which aims to improve traffic flow on the busy Shaturskoye highway.
The overpass will be built in the village of Novosidorikha, between the Botino and Krivandino platforms of the Kazan railway line. The current crossing is often closed for the passage of electric trains, resulting in significant traffic jams and inconvenience for local residents.
According to Prilutsky, approximately 25,000 cars and 16 public transport routes use the road daily. The closure of the crossing occurs more than 50 times a year, causing delays for commuters and residents.
The construction project has been approved by a decree of the Government of the Moscow Region, with 4 billion rubles allocated from the regional road fund. The design phase is scheduled to begin this year.
The allocated funds will be distributed over several years, with 48 and 294 million rubles designated for 2025–2026, and an additional 100 million rubles for 2027. The bulk of the funding, 2 billion rubles, will be spent in 2028, followed by 1.55 billion rubles in 2029.
