A dispute over a pug in an St. Petersburg coffee shop escalated into violence on May 31st, resulting in injuries and a police report. The incident occurred at the “Aurora” coffee shop on Suvorovsky Prospekt, a known dog-friendly establishment.
Yulia, the pug’s owner, was allegedly assaulted by a woman after a man in her company reacted aggressively towards Yulia’s dog, Yuliy. According to Victoria, Yulia’s friend, the man, appearing intoxicated, kicked the pug in the face after it approached them.
Victoria stated that when Yulia intervened, the woman shielded the man and struck Yulia in the face. The couple then left the coffee shop without making a purchase.
Yulia was transported to Mariinskaya Hospital, where she was diagnosed with contusions. She reported experiencing dizziness, nausea, and weakness. Yuliy, the pug, was unharmed.
The women contacted the police and filed a report alleging battery and animal cruelty. The coffee shop provided video footage of the incident to the victims.
Yulia emphasized that pugs are small, harmless dogs that do not require muzzles. She hopes the couple will be held accountable for their actions.
