Closure of “Bunker” Club in Akademgorodok Marked with Farewell Party

The “Bunker” club in Akademgorodok, a long-standing and beloved gathering spot for Novosibirsk State University (NSU) students and residents, has closed its doors after over 20 years of operation. The closure, triggered by a change in building ownership, was commemorated with a weekend-long farewell event that culminated on the night of June 1st.

The final party on Sunday was designed for regulars, featuring house and techno music and DJ sets that lasted until the early morning. DJ Alexander Baksheev, who has been with “Bunker” for 23 years, stated that while the club’s history is over, the team and equipment will continue with future plans yet to be revealed.

While the club was nearly empty at the start of the final night, the previous evening had seen such a large crowd that the entrance had to be closed early. Attendees reminisced about the club’s significance in their lives, particularly its role in student life. Many recalled it as a place to meet people from different faculties, take a break from studies, and participate in university events.

The club’s interior, which had remained largely unchanged over the years, featured multiple halls, including a large dance floor, a smaller room for more intimate gatherings, and an even smaller utility room that served as a bar during larger events.

While some attendees expressed sadness over the closure, others were optimistic about the future, hoping that the “Bunker” team would find a new location and reopen. Some staff even assured attendees that a new project was in the works.
