Children’s Reproductive Health to be Checked Starting at Age Six

Starting September 1, 2025, children in Russia will undergo more thorough medical check-ups, including reproductive health assessments from the age of six. These changes, announced by the Minister of Health of Russia, Mikhail Murashko, aim to diagnose potential health and developmental issues early.

Children will have their reproductive health examined starting at six years old, and then annually from the age of 13. Reproductive health encompasses physical, mental, and social well-being related to the reproductive system, including the ability to conceive and bear a healthy child.

Other changes include mandatory ophthalmologist examinations with pupil dilation for infants at one month and one year old. Otolaryngologist examinations will be conducted at ages one and six. Risk groups will undergo blood cholesterol level studies at six and ten years, along with body weight deviation assessments.

A parental screening will be introduced at 1.5 years to identify children at risk of mental development issues, followed by neurological examinations for those with high-risk results.
