Child in St. Petersburg receives compensation for broken nose sustained at kindergarten

A kindergarten in St. Petersburg has been ordered to pay 150,000 rubles in compensation to a child who suffered a broken nose while at the facility. The incident occurred on May 27 of last year.

The five-year-old boy sustained the injury, a closed nasal fracture with displacement, while playing tag. According to reports, the accident happened while the child was under the kindergarten’s care.

Following an appeal from the child’s father, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Admiralteysky District launched an investigation. The investigation revealed that a caregiver had left the boy unsupervised, leading to the accident. Furthermore, it was found that the child did not receive timely medical assistance after the injury. Medics were only called after the father arrived at the scene.

In response to these findings, the prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit in court seeking compensation for moral damages on behalf of the injured child. The court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, ordering the kindergarten to pay 150,000 rubles to the victim.
