Changes Awaiting Pensioners in June 2025

Significant changes are coming to Russia in June 2025, impacting pensioners and various sectors, including finance, healthcare, and telecommunications. These changes range from new restrictions on foreign messengers and SIM card transfers to updated pension payment procedures and additional days off.

Pensioners will see changes in how they receive their payments. Law enforcement agencies can now determine pension payment methods for their employees, allowing them to receive money on bank cards, deposits in any Russian bank, or through postal transfers, expanding beyond Sberbank. Those scheduled to receive pensions after June 12 will receive them early, on the 10th or 11th, due to Russia Day.

Financial security measures are being strengthened. Suspicious money transfers will be suspended for up to 10 days by Rosfinmonitoring to combat fraud and illegal activities. The Public Services portal will require an enhanced qualified electronic signature to lift a self-ban on loans, increasing protection against unauthorized access.

New regulations affect telecommunications and pharmacies. Banks and other entities are prohibited from using foreign messengers to inform citizens. SMS messages with confirmation codes from “Gosuslugi” will be delayed during phone conversations to prevent fraud. Restrictions on SIM card transfers to third parties will be enforced, limiting transfers to close relatives. Pharmacies will be integrated into the healthcare system, allowing pharmacists to receive social benefits, and they will be required to check medicines in the national labeling system to prevent the sale of falsified or expired drugs.

The month also brings changes to admissions processes and work schedules. From June 20, applicants can submit documents for university admission, and the admission of children to the first grade at the place of registration ends on June 30. Russians working on a five-day week will have a four-day weekend from June 12 to 15, coinciding with Russia Day.
