Career Guidance Project Expanded to Include Students in Sverdlovsk Region

A career guidance program in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia has been expanded to include students from technical schools and colleges up to the age of 23. The initiative, previously focused solely on schoolchildren, aims to provide educational excursions to various enterprises, showcasing production processes and in-demand professions.

The project, formerly known as “Ural for Schools,” will be renamed “Ural for Students” to reflect the inclusion of the new participants. Legislative support for the expansion came through amendments to the regional law on tourism, making these excursions more accessible to the student population.

Lyudmila Babushkina stated that the authorities are creating opportunities for diverse excursions, and thanks to the amendments to the law, such excursions will also become available to students of secondary vocational education up to 23 years of age, which would broaden their horizons, aid in career selection, and assist in solidifying their chosen specialties.

Participating enterprises encompass a range of industries, including metallurgy, nuclear energy, water management, porcelain manufacturing, and more. Some of the listed destinations include VSMPO-AVISMA, Beloyarsk NPP, EVRAZ-NTMK, Vodokanal of Yekaterinburg, Sysert Porcelain Factory, Artinsky Plant, Kachkanar Mining and Processing Plant, Uralasbest, Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant and Uralhimmash.

In a related matter, during the same assembly, deputies approved amendments granting “war veteran” status to military rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations involved in mine clearance and search and rescue operations. Babushkina also announced preparations for the development of the regional budget for 2026.
