A car accident involving an overturned carsharing vehicle caused a significant traffic jam on the St. Petersburg Ring Road (КАД) this morning. The incident occurred on the outer ring of the highway.
The collision took place on the 97th kilometer of the outer ring of the St. Petersburg Ring Road (КАД), specifically between the Ropsha and Gostilitsy highways. Eyewitness photos depict a carsharing vehicle overturned in the far right lane and a Volkswagen with front-end damage in the far left lane.
Authorities received a report at 8:14 a.m. about a collision between a passenger car and a truck at the 97th kilometer of the outer ring of the St. Petersburg Ring Road (КАД). According to the press service, no injuries were reported. The vehicles involved occupied the third lane and the safety lane.
At 9:58 a.m., the resulting traffic jam on the outer ring of the St. Petersburg Ring Road (КАД) extended for 4.2 kilometers, stretching from the Staropetergof Canal to the Ropsha Highway. This congestion was the fifth largest in St. Petersburg this morning. Traffic flow in the affected area has since returned to normal.
