Bright pink mushrooms, identified as Boletinus asiaticus, have been discovered in the Ural forests near the Staromoskovsky Tract. These distinctive fungi, characterized by their scaly caps, were spotted by local mushroom enthusiasts.
Alexandra Karamazova, an experienced mushroom picker and administrator of the “Gifts of the Ural Forests” group, confirmed the identification of the mushrooms. According to Karamazova, Boletinus asiaticus is a common sight in the region’s forests and is not a protected species.
The Asiatic Bolete is considered edible and can be collected. While Karamazova noted that she personally hasn’t consumed them due to their unappetizing appearance, they are known to be used in various culinary applications.
Boletinus asiaticus is typically used in home preparations, with marinating being the most popular method. Boiling and frying are also viable options. However, it is advised to only harvest young mushrooms, as older ones tend to develop a bitter taste.
Earlier in the season, concerns were raised about mushrooms drying up due to high temperatures.
