Bridge Explosions in Kursk and Bryansk Regions Trigger Criminal Investigations

The Investigative Committee of Russia has launched criminal investigations into two separate bridge explosions that occurred in the Kursk and Bryansk regions. The incidents, which took place on May 31st and June 1st, resulted in damage to infrastructure, injuries, and at least one fatality.

The first explosion occurred on May 31st at 22:50 on the Vygonichi-Pilshino railway section in the Bryansk region. According to the Investigative Committee, the blast caused the collapse of a road bridge.

Debris from the collapsed bridge fell onto a passing passenger train, resulting in fatalities and injuries.

The second explosion took place around 03:00 on June 1st in the Kursk region, targeting a railway bridge. The Investigative Committee reports that this explosion also caused significant damage.

A train passing over the railway bridge at the time of the explosion derailed and fell onto the road below. The driver and two assistants sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

Investigators are currently at both scenes gathering evidence and conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the explosions.
