Criminal investigations are underway after railway bridges in the Bryansk and Kursk regions were blown up, causing train derailments and resulting in fatalities and injuries. The incidents occurred on the evening of May 31st and the night of June 1st, impacting both passenger and freight trains.

In the Bryansk region, a road bridge collapsed on the Pilshchino-Vygonichi railway section as passenger train No. 86, traveling from Klimovo to Moscow, was passing underneath. The train crashed into the debris, causing the locomotive and several cars to derail. Seven people died, including the train driver and two children. 71 people were injured in the incident.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and the injured were transported to medical facilities. Train passengers were evacuated to a temporary accommodation center and then transported to the Bryansk-Orlovsky railway station. A reserve train was organized to take passengers to Moscow, where they were met by medical professionals.

Russian Railways (RZD) has promised full compensation to all passengers, along with bonus points and insurance payments.

Authorities have confirmed that the bridge collapse was the result of sabotage. The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case and is investigating the bombing.

In the Kursk region, a similar incident occurred on the night of June 1st, where a railway bridge was blown up on the Ostapovo-Mikhailovsky Rudnik section as a train was crossing. The locomotive caught fire, and the driver and his two assistants were injured and hospitalized.

Transport prosecutors, investigators, and restoration teams are on-site. Road traffic has been diverted, but long-distance trains continue to run on schedule.

The Russian Transport Minister is personally overseeing the response to the emergencies in both regions. An emergency hotline has been established to provide information and assistance to those affected.

Authorities are working to clear the wreckage and restore the damaged infrastructure. The Investigative Committee has classified both incidents as acts of sabotage and is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosions. Transport security has been strengthened in the wake of these events.
