Bridge Collapse in Bryansk Region: Passenger Details Emergency

A bridge collapse in the Bryansk region of Russia on the night of June 1 caused a passenger train to derail, resulting in injuries to passengers and the death of the train drivers. The incident occurred near the village of Vygonichi, approximately 80 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Passengers described a scene of chaos and panic, with the ceiling collapsing and injuries sustained throughout the train. One passenger reported that the first car practically “took off,” the second overturned, and the third crashed into it. According to the passenger, everyone up to the tenth car sustained similar injuries and that a truck was lying on the car where the train drivers were located.

Governor Alexander Bogomaz confirmed that the bridge collapse was caused by an explosion. Residents of Vygonichi reported hearing two loud explosion-like sounds at the time of the incident. They noted that the bridge was new and in good condition, designed to accommodate heavy vehicles.

Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to assist with the evacuation. Passengers helped each other, with priority given to the elderly.

Another bridge collapse occurred in the Kursk region involving a freight train, also attributed to an explosion. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened criminal cases regarding both incidents.
