The peak of the early boletus mushroom season appears to have passed in the Leningrad region. According to mycologist Stanislav Krivosheev, the first “spring” layer of boletus mushrooms is already coming to an end.

While small boletus mushrooms can still be found, many are affected by insect larvae. Clean mushrooms are also present, though orange-cap boletus are not yet appearing in large numbers.

Krivosheev’s observations are based on a trip to the forest in the Vsevolozhsky district of the Leningrad region, with a photo report from May 29–30. Boletus mushrooms can still be found in some areas, including the Kurortny district of St. Petersburg.
