The body of a missing tenth-grade student from St. Petersburg’s Primorsky district has been discovered in the Gulf of Finland near the Yacht Bridge. Tourists reported the finding to emergency services early on June 8th.

Rescuers recovered the body of the 17-year-old girl, who had been missing since early spring. Forensic experts will determine the cause of death.

The girl left her home on the evening of March 11th, following an argument with her father about buying expensive coffee. She left without her phone or identification. Relatives stated she was in a state of emotional distress, alleging she had experienced abuse and sought solace in religion.

Police and volunteers conducted extensive searches for the missing teen. In late March, the Investigative Committee initiated a murder case to broaden the department’s investigative authority, although this does not confirm a violent death.
