Bad Weather Persists in Moscow with Cold Snap Expected

Moscow residents should brace for continued cool weather throughout the extended holiday period, as a cold snap has settled over the capital following a hot weekend and storm.

Temperatures are expected to remain below average for June, with minimal rainfall but a persistent chill in the air.

Earlier today, the western Moscow region experienced temperatures dropping below 10 degrees Celsius, marking a significant decrease compared to Monday. Weather specialists forecast no immediate return to warmer conditions within the next five days.

While an anticyclone is currently influencing the region, bringing a reduction in rainfall, the overall weather will be colder than usual for this time of year, registering 1-2 degrees below the average June temperature. Temperatures are expected to range from +20 to +22 degrees Celsius, with westerly winds of 5-10 m/s.

Specifically, Wednesday, June 11, will see cloudy skies with temperatures reaching up to +19 degrees Celsius, remaining dry throughout the day.

Short-term rain showers are anticipated to return on Russia Day, June 12, with nighttime temperatures around +15 degrees Celsius and daytime temperatures reaching +21 degrees Celsius. The wet weather is expected to continue into Friday, June 13, with temperatures up to +15 degrees Celsius.

The coldest period is forecast for the weekend, with Saturday, June 14, expected to have variable cloudiness, light rain, and a temperature of +15 degrees Celsius. Sunday, June 15, will remain cloudy with temperatures reaching +16 degrees Celsius.

However, a change in weather is expected from Monday, with a return to warmer conditions and sunshine. Temperatures are predicted to reach around +20 degrees Celsius at the start of the week, potentially climbing to +25 degrees Celsius by Wednesday.

This follows a recent storm that brought heavy rain and hail to Moscow, with some areas experiencing hailstones the size of quail eggs.
