A baby girl discovered in a bag near Vsevolozhsk will be moved from intensive care to a less critical care unit today. The infant’s condition is considered moderately severe but stable.
The decision to transfer the baby was announced on June 6 by the Leningrad Region State Budgetary Healthcare Institution “Ambulance Station.” The discovery occurred the previous day in the village of Dubrovka, prompting a rapid response from emergency services.
An ambulance team reached the scene within six minutes of receiving the call. Upon arrival, paramedics examined the girl, wrapped her in blankets, and transported her to a maternity hospital. During the journey, she was given oxygen therapy.
One of the paramedics from the Vsevolozhsk substation noted that while the baby cried during the transport, this was viewed as a positive sign of her vitality. At the maternity hospital, the newborn was immediately attended to by neonatologists.
As of today, June 6, medical professionals at the maternity hospital have confirmed that the baby’s life is not in danger. Staff members are providing her with constant care and attention.
Janitors in Dubrovka found the package containing the newborn on the afternoon of June 5. Medical personnel and law enforcement officers were promptly dispatched to the location.
Following the baby’s discovery, a criminal investigation has been launched into the attempted murder of a minor. Authorities are currently searching for the child’s mother.
