Russia is expected to experience a range of temperature and precipitation anomalies in August, with some regions seeing above-average temperatures and others facing potential rainfall deficits or surpluses.
The Hydrometeorological Center forecasts that the average temperature in August will be higher than normal in several regions, including the northwest of Russia, the Chernozem region, the Kuban, the Caucasus republics, Kamchatka, the Primorsky Territory, and Sakhalin. For the remainder of Russia, temperatures are expected to be around the average for this time of year. Notably, Western and Central Siberia may experience a cold start to the month, with temperatures potentially dipping 6 degrees below normal.
Regarding precipitation, the Chernozem region, the Southern Federal District, and the North Caucasus are predicted to receive less rain than usual in August. Conversely, the Kaliningrad and Leningrad regions are expected to have excess precipitation. A shortage of rainfall is also anticipated in Chukotka and the northeast of European Russia, specifically in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the northern Arkhangelsk region, and Komi. Meanwhile, the northern Krasnoyarsk Territory and the northwest of European Russia, including the Leningrad and Kaliningrad regions, are forecast to have above-average rainfall. The remaining areas are expected to experience precipitation levels close to normal.
