Russia is expected to experience a mixed bag of weather conditions in August, with temperature variations and precipitation discrepancies across different regions. According to the Hydrometeorological Center, some areas will see above-normal temperatures, while others will experience colder spells.
The northwest of Russia, the Chernozem region, Kuban, the republics of the Caucasus, Kamchatka, Primorsky Krai, and Sakhalin are predicted to have average temperatures above normal. Conversely, Western and Central Siberia will start the month with a cold snap, with temperatures dropping as much as 6 degrees below normal. The remaining parts of Russia are expected to have average temperatures close to the norm.
Rainfall distribution will also be uneven. The Chernozem region, the Southern Federal District, and the North Caucasus are likely to receive less rain than usual. A shortage of precipitation is also anticipated in Chukotka and the northeast of European Russia, including the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the north of the Arkhangelsk region, and Komi. This dry spell extends to the southern half of European Russia, encompassing areas south of the Moscow region, such as Tula, Ryazan, Kursk, Voronezh regions, the entire Southern Federal District, the entire North Caucasus, and the southern part of the Volga region.
In contrast, excess precipitation is expected in the Kaliningrad and Leningrad regions and in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The rest of the country is predicted to have precipitation levels close to normal for August.
