A 38-year-old man from Karelia has been apprehended in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred on the shore of Lake Koltushskoye in the Leningrad region. The incident, which took place on Wednesday night, resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man and the hospitalization of a 31-year-old individual.

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Leningrad Region reported that the victim sustained at least eight stab wounds and died at the scene. The 31-year-old acquaintance was also stabbed and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Law enforcement swiftly apprehended the suspect who had fled the scene following the crime.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the stabbing stemmed from a personal dispute. Authorities believe that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the altercation.

The suspect is expected to be formally charged soon, and a decision regarding his pre-trial detention will be made in the near future.
