Anatoly Keksel is the First Lowrider Beyond the Urals

Anatoly Keksel of Novosibirsk is the only lowrider enthusiast beyond the Ural Mountains in Russia. He owns a tuned 1975 Chevrolet Caprice, a classic model favored in lowriding culture.

Keksel purchased the Chevrolet Caprice at auction in Canada in 2013. He has invested significant time and money into further tuning and perfecting the vehicle over the past 12 years.

The car is equipped with three hydraulic pumps powered by six batteries, allowing it to independently adjust its ground clearance in the front and rear via remote control. Keksel initially spent 700,000 rubles on the car, with an additional 300,000 rubles for legalization and other expenses.

Lowriding originated in Los Angeles about 100 years ago, becoming a distinctive feature of Mexican gangster subculture and later gaining popularity among rap artists. While the culture is not yet widespread in Russia, Keksel is passionate about popularizing it.

He considers himself a representative of lowriding culture and knows other enthusiasts who lower cars in the lowriding style, as opposed to the “stance” style common among Japanese car enthusiasts. Keksel hopes to see more people embrace lowriding in Russia.

Keksel dreams of further enhancing his Chevy Caprice by making it capable of riding on three wheels.
