Analysis of Road Accidents and Fatalities in the First Half of 2025

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has released data analyzing road accidents in the first six months of 2025, identifying the primary causes of fatal incidents.

The analysis revealed that the leading causes of fatalities are vehicles entering the oncoming lane, accounting for 29.2% of deaths, and drivers exceeding the speed limit, contributing to 28.8% of fatalities.

Compared to the same period in 2024, fatalities resulting from violations of stopping and parking rules have seen a significant increase of almost 90%. Additionally, deaths related to drivers failing to yield to pedestrians rose by 65%, and those occurring during U-turns in prohibited locations increased by 25%.

Overall, the total number of accidents across the country decreased by 1.4%, totaling 55,964 incidents. The number of deaths also saw a reduction of 3%, with 5,802 fatalities recorded. Furthermore, the number of people injured in traffic accidents decreased by 1.8%, resulting in 69,733 injuries.

The data indicates that speeding and failure to comply with right-of-way regulations are the most frequent contributing factors to traffic accidents.
