Joseph Tater, the American citizen who assaulted a police officer in Moscow in April, has been released from a psychiatric hospital and has left Russia. His current location is unknown to law enforcement agencies.
Medical sources confirmed that doctors found no reason to keep him in the clinic. However, Tater’s lawyer stated they were unaware of these developments.
Tater was initially detained in Moscow in August 2024 for attempting to check into a hotel without proper documentation. He acted aggressively and refused to show identification. During the incident, he attacked a police officer, striking her arm and pushing her.
Following the incident, Tater was arrested and, in April, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow ordered him to undergo compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital.
