Almaz Ziyakov: The Story of a Modern Superhero Juvenile Affairs Inspector

A juvenile affairs inspector in a village near Samara, Almaz Ziyakov is hailed as a modern-day superhero for his dedication to protecting children and teenagers. Almaz dedicates himself to preventing offenses, safeguarding children from abuse, and championing their rights. Despite the demanding nature of his role, Almaz’s commitment to his community and the well-being of its youth shines through.

Almaz, a 33-year-old police captain, has served as a juvenile affairs inspector for five years, a role he finds fulfilling despite its challenges. His journey to law enforcement wasn’t straightforward, initially working as a driver and security guard before becoming a district police officer and eventually transitioning to juvenile affairs. Almaz dreamed of working in law enforcement since childhood and is dedicated to his work.

His daily routine involves home visits, attending parent-teacher meetings, and preparing documents and reports. Almaz works closely with the “Family” center, collaborating with teacher-psychologist Anna Vashurina to support families in need. The interaction with the teacher-psychologist of this center is so close that they have already learned to understand each other with a glance.

Almaz’s work has yielded positive results, including helping families overcome difficult circumstances and removing them from socially dangerous situations. For example, he successfully supported Valentina, a mother who had lost custody of her children due to alcohol abuse, in regaining custody after undergoing treatment and finding stable housing. He also worked with a single mother with drug addiction and her son to get them into a treatment program.

The community recognizes Almaz’s dedication. Police Colonel Vyacheslav Malashin, head of the department, praised Almaz’s initiative and principled approach from his early days as an intern. Lilia Shlyushkina, a chief specialist responsible for juvenile affairs, highlighted Almaz’s crucial role in resolving complex family issues and his ability to communicate effectively with families in crisis. She also noted how often she learns from him, despite their age difference.

Beyond his professional life, Almaz values his family and rural roots. Despite opportunities to relocate to the city, he prefers the tranquility of village life and enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He met his wife Aliya in Samara – at Sabantuy in Gagarina Park. While his family supports his work, they long for him to be home more often.
