A new tram network is planned for the southern part of St. Petersburg, encompassing four key routes. The agreement, signed on June 20 by Smolny, Sber, and GC “Natsproektstroy,” outlines the intended construction and operation of the network. The investment for this project is estimated to exceed 130 billion rubles.
The four directions included in the agreement are: a line along Sofiyskaya Street to Kolpino, a line along the Southern Latitude Highway, a line parallel to the Kievskoe Highway to the satellite city “Yuzhny,” and a line along the Volkhonskoe Highway.
This development follows a prior agreement for another concession tram network, “Kupchino – Shushary – Slavyanka,” which will extend towards the SPbSU campus.
GC “Natsproektstroy,” a major holding company with ties to Arkady Rotenberg’s structures, has been awarded significant contracts in St. Petersburg recently, including the Bolshoy Smolensky Bridge, the Far Eastern Interchange, and the reconstruction of the Frunzenskaya metro station. The company is also involved in preparing infrastructure for the St. Petersburg section of the high-speed railway and is the main contractor for track construction along the entire HSR route. Sber serves as the leader of the banking syndicate for the HSR concession, valued at 2.3 trillion rubles.
