A police officer is facing criminal charges following a fatal collision between a police car and a motorcycle at a city intersection. The accident resulted in the deaths of both the motorcyclist and a police officer who was a passenger in the police vehicle.

The incident occurred as the police vehicle, a Hyundai Solaris, was attempting to cross an intersection with its flashing lights and siren activated. While proceeding through a red light, the car was struck by a motorcycle traveling at high speed.

Video footage from the scene shows the police car slowly proceeding into the intersection, appearing to yield to other vehicles. However, a motorcycle then entered the intersection at a high rate of speed, colliding with the police car.

The surviving police officer, who was driving the Hyundai Solaris, is now under criminal investigation. Authorities are investigating why the officer did not notice the approaching motorcycle and whether proper safety protocols were followed.

According to traffic regulations, vehicles with activated special signals are permitted to deviate from traffic laws only when road safety is assured. Experts suggest the police officer may have failed to ensure the intersection was safe before proceeding.

The investigation will also seek to determine the motorcycle’s speed at the time of the collision. An auto-technical examination is expected to determine if the biker could have reacted in time to avoid the accident.
