Legal Battles Surround the Legacy of Cheese Curd Empire

Extensive legal battles have unfolded surrounding the cheese curd business empire built by Boris Alexandrov, the creator of the once-ubiquitous “B. Yu. Alexandrov” cheese curds. The company he founded, “Rostagrokompleks,” continues to operate under a different brand, prompting questions about the reasons for the rebranding, the company’s financial health, and the impact of a long-standing paternity lawsuit.

The legal disputes arose after Alexandrov’s death in 2020 and involve inheritance claims, trademark rights, and corporate control. His daughters, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Natalia Kokota, are embroiled in lawsuits concerning the transfer of trademark rights and the legitimacy of paternity.

Yuri Izachik, Alexandrov’s long-time business partner, also became embroiled in a corporate conflict after transferring a large stake in “Rostagrokompleks” to top managers, a decision he later tried to challenge in court. Izachik’s legal battles include a criminal case and attempts to recover the value of his stake in the company.

Amidst these legal challenges, the production of the famous premium cheese curds under the “B. Yu. Alexandrov” brand ceased. The company rebranded its products under the names “Rostagroexport” and “Rostagrokompleks,” a move that industry experts predicted would lead to a drop in sales and require significant investment in promoting the new trademark.

Despite the legal turbulence and rebranding efforts, “Rostagrokompleks” has shown strong financial performance in recent years. While “Rostagroexport” faced liquidation, “Rostagrokompleks” and other associated companies have experienced revenue and profit growth, demonstrating the resilience of the business empire even in the face of complex legal battles and the loss of its founder.
