Russia Ready to Transfer Additional Bodies of Deceased Soldiers to Ukraine

Russia is prepared to transfer approximately 3,000 more bodies of deceased soldiers to Ukraine, according to Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky. This offer aligns with the agreements established in Istanbul concerning humanitarian exchanges of deceased individuals.

Medinsky announced Russia’s readiness on June 20, stating that the transfer would proceed if Ukraine is prepared to receive the bodies.

Furthermore, the Russian Federation has pledged to investigate information regarding a body believed to be that of a Russian soldier, which Kyiv claims was handed over by Moscow along with the remains of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers in February.

Previously, President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia had already transferred over 6,000 bodies of Ukrainian servicemen to Ukraine, while receiving 57 bodies in return.

Medinsky confirmed on June 16 that Russia has completed the transfer of 6,060 bodies of deceased Ukrainian officers and soldiers to Ukraine, fulfilling the commitments made during the Istanbul agreements.
