Heavy Rainfall Causes Flooding in Yekaterinburg

Yekaterinburg experienced significant flooding on the evening of June 20th due to a heavy downpour. Residents shared footage showing streets submerged in water, with Amundsen Street being particularly affected.

The heavy rain impacted various districts, including Akademichesky and Uktus, as residents documented the conditions. The intersection of Amundsen and Krasnolesye streets was also heavily flooded.

According to weather reports, the rain covered most of Yekaterinburg at the time of the initial reports, with precipitation expected to cease within an hour. The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations has warned that heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected to continue in the Sverdlovsk region on June 21st due to another incoming cyclone.

The city has already experienced the effects of severe weather this week, with previous heavy rains causing widespread flooding and turning many streets into rivers. Emergency work to repair the storm sewer collector on the main streets of the Akademichesky district began on June 20th.
