The bridge in the Vygonichsky district of the Bryansk region, which collapsed on May 31, cannot be restored and will be completely dismantled. The announcement was made by regional governor Alexander Bogomaz.
According to Bogomaz, the severely damaged structure necessitates a complete demolition before a new bridge can be constructed in its place. The new bridge is planned to be 42 meters in length with a support width of 12 meters. Clearing of the rubble is scheduled to commence soon.
The collapse occurred as the Klimovo-Moscow passenger train passed underneath the bridge. The incident resulted in seven fatalities, including locomotive crew members and children.
More than 70 individuals sustained injuries in the collapse. The Investigative Committee has officially classified the incident as a terrorist act.
Currently, rescue and restoration efforts are ongoing at the site of the collapsed bridge.
