VTB Bank Highlights Cultural Initiatives and Support for the Arts at SPIEF 2024

VTB Bank is significantly increasing its investment in Russian culture, allocating over 2 billion rubles for cultural projects in 2025. This commitment underscores the bank’s belief in the importance of supporting arts and cultural institutions alongside its traditional financial services.

At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2024, VTB showcased its dedication to culture with a cultural audio guide for St. Petersburg. The audio guide, accessible via QR codes, highlights iconic locations and offers a new perspective on the city’s cultural landmarks.

VTB’s support extends to major institutions such as the Russian Museum, the Hermitage, and the Mariinsky Theater. The bank plays a crucial role in enabling blockbuster exhibitions. VTB’s backing covers crucial aspects of exhibition preparation, including artwork transportation, insurance, and curator fees.

Natalia Kochneva, Senior Vice President of VTB, highlighted the bank’s long-term commitment to culture, stating it has been a focus for 30 years and is more relevant than ever. The bank views cultural projects as a way to create additional value for residents and visitors, enriching the SPIEF experience beyond finance and investment discussions.

VTB actively supports lesser-known artists and institutions, exemplified by its Zotov Constructivism Center in Moscow. This interdisciplinary space fosters research into the avant-garde movement, showcasing exhibitions, performances, and lectures by young curators.

Looking ahead, VTB is supporting the “Our Avant-Garde” exhibition at the Russian Museum, featuring over 400 works by renowned artists. Additionally, VTB is involved in the restoration of the House of Radio in St. Petersburg, transforming it into a new center for the arts.

Kochneva emphasized the importance of collaboration between corporations, the state, and private philanthropy to foster a thriving cultural landscape in Russia. She highlighted legislative initiatives, such as tax benefits for companies supporting cultural projects, as key to encouraging corporate philanthropy.
