The “Island of Forts” and the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) unveiled a digital platform called “Mayak,” the All-Russian Center for Maritime Professions, at SPIEF-2025. This national project aims to provide career guidance, education, and employment opportunities for young people in the shipbuilding and maritime industry.
The platform builds upon the previously established “Mayak” center, which was launched under an agreement between the Island of Forts ANO and the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) a year ago. USC and “Island of Forts” have also recently signed a strategic agreement focused on developing the information platform and a “Shipbuilding” course for early career guidance.
“Mayak” offers personalized recommendations for profession selection and career path development. It also grants access to courses and additional professional education, maintains a database of job openings, and facilitates interaction with employers. Users can create digital competency profiles and skills “passports” on the platform.
Ksenia Shoigu, head of the “Island of Forts” project office, described “Mayak” as an innovative tool designed to connect schoolchildren, students, educators, universities, specialized educational institutions, and maritime industry businesses within a single virtual environment. The platform will gather, process, and analyze significant amounts of data, providing access to various services and applications to strengthen the link between education and industry.
According to Shoigu, the platform will serve as a digital foundation for a maritime personnel training system. Yulia Oganezova, Director of the Personnel Management Department of USC, emphasized that the online platform’s creation will allow them to expand the reach of career guidance practices.
The test version of the platform currently features information about USC enterprises located in the Arkhangelsk region, including Sevmash, Zvezdochka, SPO Arktika, and NIPTB Onega.
