A new sports and recreation complex named “Legenda” has been constructed at Kirovgradskaya, 30a, replacing the former Sports School No. 19 “Children’s Stadium.” The complex is scheduled to open by August 2025.

The construction follows the demolition of the old “Children’s Stadium,” which had been located on the site of the Zenit stadium since 1992. The original stadium was built in 1942. Due to the building’s dilapidated condition, it was demolished in September 2024, and the students were relocated.

The project, encompassing both demolition and new construction, cost 399 million rubles.

The “Legenda” complex will house students from School No. 19 and the Kandel basketball school. Inside, several gyms will be equipped for various activities, including general physical training, rhythmic gymnastics, aerobics, martial arts, and weightlifting.

Previously, the building of the Kandel basketball school, located at Festivalnaya, 6b, was also demolished. This demolition occurred alongside the Uralmash swimming pool, which was used by athletes preparing for the Spartakiad and Uralmash plant workers. The decision to demolish the Kandel basketball school was finalized in January 2021 due to its state of disrepair.
