Five Grey Seal Pups Released Back into Gulf of Finland After Rehabilitation

Five grey seal pups have been successfully released back into the Gulf of Finland after undergoing rehabilitation. The Friends of the Baltic Seal Foundation announced the release on Wednesday, June 18th.

The seal pups were returned to their natural habitat after receiving treatment and care at the rehabilitation center. The release was slightly delayed when one of the transport cages broke, necessitating a staggered release.

Four of the pups were initially released, and the fifth pup was released later that evening once the transport issue was resolved. All five pups are now back in the Gulf of Finland.

The Friends of the Baltic Seal Foundation also announced that they received a diploma from the Public Chamber of St. Petersburg in recognition of their work. The foundation expressed their gratitude and wished the seals well.

Prior to this release, another group of five rescued grey seal pups were released on June 16th. These pups had arrived at the center in poor condition but fully recovered.
