Novosibirsk is preparing for City Day celebrations on June 29, with several street closures planned throughout the city. A draft resolution published on the city hall website outlines the temporary traffic restrictions that will be in effect from June 28 to June 30.
Lenin Street, from Lenin Square to Sovetskaya Street, will be closed to vehicular traffic and become a pedestrian zone from 6:00 AM on June 28 to 6:00 AM on June 30.
The most significant closures are scheduled for City Day itself, June 29. From 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, driving will be prohibited along Krasny Prospekt and adjacent streets in the city center.
Later in the evening, from 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM, traffic may be restricted again on central streets and on the left bank, pending a decision by the operational headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Novosibirsk.
Parking will also be prohibited in front of the Mayakovsky Cinema and Concert Complex, in front of the central entrance to the Arena Park, and in other designated areas.
The Department of Transport is planning to adjust public transport routes and schedules to accommodate the closures. Additionally, the Rechnoy Vokzal metro station entrances may be closed from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, depending on the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ decision.
It is important to note that the mayor’s office has only published a draft decree, and amendments may still be made.
