Escalation of Conflict Between Iran and Israel: International Reactions and Military Deployments

Tensions in the Middle East remain high as mutual strikes between Iran and Israel enter their sixth day, prompting international concern and military deployments. Russia has condemned Israel’s actions as illegal, while the United States considers its options, including potential military involvement.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Israel’s attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities are illegal under international law, citing unacceptable threats to international security and the risk of nuclear catastrophe. The ministry emphasized Iran’s commitment to its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and its willingness to resume negotiations with the United States, advocating for a diplomatic resolution through negotiations.

Amid the escalating conflict, the United States is redeploying additional fighter jets to the Middle East, according to Reuters. Earlier, former US President Donald Trump suggested that Israel, with US support, has taken control of Iranian airspace and hinted at possible US involvement in bombings, while also mentioning the vulnerability of Iran’s Supreme Leader.

Iran has reportedly prepared missiles and military equipment to strike American bases in the Middle East if the United States joins the conflict. The New York Times, citing intelligence reports, also indicated that Iran may mine the Strait of Hormuz, potentially blocking American warships in the Persian Gulf. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that military attacks would not force Iran to yield to its enemies’ will.

Trump also held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The details of their discussion were not immediately disclosed. The conflict began on June 13, when Israel launched a military strike against Iran, citing the need to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
