Court Finds Two Men Guilty of Hooliganism for Attack on Minors

Two men, Alexander Makarov and Mikhail Shnyavin, have been convicted of hooliganism involving violence following an incident on September 23, 2024, at a playground on Marshal Zhukov Avenue. The Kirovsky District Court of St. Petersburg delivered the verdict on June 17.

The men, while intoxicated, initiated a conflict with two 14-year-old teenagers because of loud music.

During the altercation, Makarov and Shnyavin inflicted blows to the head and groin of one of the victims, threw him to the ground, and threw a glass bottle at the teenagers.

Makarov also exposed himself and threatened the boys.

The court excluded the article on lewd acts from the charges, because the behavior was dictated by hooligan motives, not sexual ones. Makarov attributed his actions to the influence of alcohol.

Both defendants pleaded guilty. Makarov was sentenced to 3 years suspended sentence, while Shnyavin received 2.5 years suspended sentence, each with a 3-year probationary period. They were released in the courtroom.
