The “Sportivnaya” metro station in Novosibirsk, under construction for over five years, is slated to undergo testing soon, with a target opening by the start of the hockey season on September 5th. Mayor Maxim Kudryavtsev announced a completion goal of September 1st after inspecting the site and receiving updates from the new contractor, Akvi Tekhnolodzhi.
The previous contractor reportedly deviated significantly from the original project, resulting in flawed work that the current team had to correct. Akvi Tekhnolodzhi has been tasked with ensuring full construction readiness by the beginning of September, allowing time for documentation and preparation for passenger service.
The new contractor had to re-do a large amount of cable and wire products. According to Dmitry Klirosov, General Director of “Akvi Tekhnolodzhi”, all installation work has been completed, and the last stage remains – equipment adjustment. Violations were identified almost daily, and they tried to eliminate them quickly, for example, evacuation stairs were not made according to the standard.
Testing of the station’s doors is planned shortly, requiring the allocation of a five-car train from the metro. Currently, 43 people are working at the facility, with plans to increase the workforce to 60.
The station is equipped with CCTV cameras and a passenger notification system. Access to restricted areas for metro employees is facilitated by card access or a Face ID system.
Akvi Tekhnolodzhi, operating since 2008, is responsible for power supply, ventilation, and other systems, some of which required complete reconstruction due to Rostekhnadzor’s concerns. The company has been involved in the project since May 2021 as a key supplier and subcontractor.
Construction of the “Sportivnaya” station commenced in 2019, initially scheduled for completion in 2022.
