Yuri Kutyavin has been detained in Novosibirsk and charged with the murder of a 69-year-old woman. He is accused under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The Department of the Judicial Department in the Novosibirsk Region reports that Kutyavin has been remanded in custody until August 14, 2025, pending trial. The court’s decision is not yet legally binding.

The incident occurred on June 12, when Kutyavin, his cohabitant, and the victim were drinking alcohol at Kutyavin’s residence. An argument ensued, during which the guest insulted Kutyavin.

According to the case details, Kutyavin allegedly stabbed the woman while his cohabitant was out of the room. Upon returning, the cohabitant found the victim with a chest wound and attempted first aid, but the woman died.

Kutyavin allegedly prevented his cohabitant from calling emergency services, stating that he would handle the situation. The couple then spent the night in the apartment with the body.

On June 13, Kutyavin dismembered the body. He disposed of the limbs outside on the morning of June 14. The remaining body parts were left in the apartment until June 14, when he disposed of them as well. Kutyavin reportedly stated that his reason for dismembering the body was to prevent the apartment from smelling.

The dismembered remains were discovered on June 14 and 15. The legs and arms were found at the Levoberezhny landfill, and the torso was discovered in a black bag and mesh bag in the Zayeltsovsky district of Novosibirsk.
