Heavy rainfall has led to mud flooding in the village of Gusiny Brod, Novosibirsk region, impacting several homes and properties. The flooding, which occurred after an intense downpour, has resulted in clay and sand being washed into at least three houses from the PSK “Gusinobrodsky” reinforced concrete products plant.
Residents are struggling to cope with the aftermath, with one homeowner, Kristina, reporting that her house and garden are covered in clay and sand. She claims the factory has not offered adequate assistance, leaving her to deal with the cleanup on her own.
The Executive Director of PSK Gusinobrodsky, Natalia Stenkina, acknowledged the severe downpour and its widespread impact on the village. She explained that the hilly terrain caused a powerful stream to wash materials down from higher elevations, affecting numerous houses. She stated that the factory offered assistance with equipment and film to cover the walls.
According to Stenkina, the company does not plan to participate in the cleaning efforts. She emphasized that the factory was not responsible for the flooding and that the downpour was an unusual event that affected the entire village.
Kristina expressed her disappointment with the factory’s response, stating that she had hoped for a compromise and assistance with the cleanup. She fears it could take her until the end of summer to clean up the mess on her own.
