June Rainfall Expected in Transbaikalia

Transbaikalia is bracing for a series of rains expected to begin in the first days of June, potentially alleviating the fire hazard situation in the region. The announcement was made on May 29 via the region’s official portal, citing Ivan Korenev, the deputy head of the Chita Hydrometeorological Center.

The anticipated rainfall is attributed to the arrival of a Mongolian cyclone. Most districts are predicted to experience heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, with the possibility of hail on June 2 and 3.

Weather forecasts from various services provide slightly differing outlooks. Gismeteo service predicts the heaviest rainfall in Chita on Sunday, June 1. Meanwhile, Yandex.Weather forecasts heavy rains for Chita on Monday, June 2.

Despite the incoming precipitation, the average monthly air temperature in Transbaikalia for June is expected to remain within the normal climatic range, fluctuating between +14 and +19 °C. Early June may still bring frosts, with temperatures potentially dropping as low as -3 °C.

The southern regions of Transbaikalia can anticipate above-normal precipitation levels, ranging from 50 to 90 mm. The northern part of the region is expected to receive precipitation within the normal range, between 70 and 100 mm. The most intense rainfall is forecasted for the first and third ten-day periods of the month, with the potential for thunderstorms and squally winds.
