Business Center Construction Relocated From Dorogomilovo to Okruzhnaya

The construction of a business center, previously planned for the Dorogomilovo district of Moscow, is now slated to be built near the Okruzhnaya station. This decision follows opposition from Dorogomilovo residents and intervention from city authorities.

The project, initially intended for a courtyard on Bolshaya Dorogomilovskaya Street, faced significant resistance from local residents. Their efforts to protect the courtyard led city authorities to propose an alternative location in the northern part of Moscow.

While Mosgosstroynadzor initially canceled the construction project in April 2024, the developer appealed the decision to the Arbitration Court of the City of Moscow, which ruled the cancellation illegal. A potential resolution to the conflict involves the developer agreeing to build the business center near the “Okruzhnaya” station.

Ekaterina Engalycheva, a former deputy of the Moscow City Duma, highlighted the collaborative effort between citizens and authorities in halting the initial construction. She noted the active opposition from residents, municipal deputies, and even officials.

The controversy began in 2023 with the demolition of a former kindergarten within the courtyard on Bolshaya Dorogomilovskaya Street to make way for the administrative and business complex. This action sparked outrage among residents, who staged protests, blocked roads, and confronted workers. The situation escalated, leading to police intervention and the detention of protesters.
