Criminal Case Opened in Novosibirsk Regarding Sexual Offense Against a Minor

A criminal case is under investigation in Novosibirsk concerning a sexual offense against a 9-year-old girl. The incident allegedly occurred on June 12th, prompting an investigation by the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Novosibirsk Region.

The girl’s mother, identified as Oksana, reported that a man lured her daughter, Masha, into his car near their home on Nemytkina Street and drove her to a parking lot. It is alleged that the man then sexually harassed the child in the vehicle.

According to Oksana, the events unfolded after Masha showed a 5,000-ruble bill to friends, one of whom, the man’s daughter, proposed exchanging it for toys. The man then questioned Masha about the money and her parents’ jobs, also requesting to see Oksana’s photo and taking his daughter’s phone number.

Later, when Masha changed her mind about the exchange and asked for her money back, the girl contacted her father, who arranged to meet with Masha. It was during this encounter in his car that the alleged harassment took place. Oksana stated that when Masha screamed in pain, the man returned to the driver’s seat.

The mother claims the man is currently in pre-trial detention. She is actively seeking surveillance footage and dashcam recordings from the area to aid the investigation, particularly from the parking lot where the alleged crime occurred. Oksana expressed concern about the timing of the forensic examination for traces, which she says was conducted a day after the incident, potentially compromising evidence. She also noted the man was assigned a state-appointed lawyer.

While Masha appears to be physically unharmed, experts have advised Oksana to monitor her behavior and consider consulting a crisis psychologist, as the trauma may manifest later.

The Investigative Committee has not yet confirmed or denied the suspect’s pre-trial detention status. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Novosibirsk Region has been contacted for comment.
