Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) secured 21st place among Russian universities for graduate employment in mathematics and natural sciences, according to a recent ranking with a final index of 1.37. The assessment considered bachelor’s and specialist programs.
The ranking methodology calculates the sum of the employment rate and graduate salary indices for each educational institution. Each index contributes equally, with a weight of 0.5, to determine a value reflecting the deviation from the average for the specific field, level of education, or industry.
ITMO University in St. Petersburg topped the ranking with an index of 2.63, followed by the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” in Moscow, which achieved an index of 2.57.
Other universities in Novosibirsk also featured in the ranking. Novosibirsk State University (NSU) was placed 29th with an index of 1.20, while Siberian State University of Telecommunications and Informatics (SibGUTI) ranked 32nd with an index of 1.17. Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (NSPU) secured 52nd place with an index of 0.93, and the Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies was positioned 59th with an index of 0.85.
The evaluation, as clarified by the trudvsem website, considers specific fields and levels of education for higher education institutions and industry characteristics for secondary vocational education.
It was previously announced that the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation proposed a new education model in January of the previous year, replacing bachelor’s and master’s degrees with basic higher education, specialized higher education, and postgraduate studies. This new system is scheduled to be implemented in all higher education institutions from September 1, 2025, requiring curriculum transformations.
