Elk Rescue Operation in Leningrad Region and St Petersburg

A disoriented elk was successfully rescued from a dacha fence in the Leningrad region on May 31st after becoming trapped overnight. The regional oversight committee reported that the animal wandered into the Pupyshevo dacha area and became entangled in the fences, unable to escape on its own.

To ensure the elk’s safety, rescuers sedated the animal before carefully transporting it to a nearby forest, where it was released back into its natural habitat. Authorities confirmed that the elk’s life is not in danger.

In a separate incident on the same day, another lost elk was sighted in St. Petersburg. This animal ventured onto the grounds of SPbGUP and was seen near the Bukhareshtskaya metro station.

The elk was eventually captured and relocated to a forest area, mirroring the successful rescue operation in the Leningrad region.
