Novosibirsk to Relocate Municipal Sand Base Upstream Near Dimitrovsky Bridge

The Novosibirsk mayor’s office has selected a new site for the municipal sand base, moving it from its current location near the Dimitrovsky Bridge to a spot upstream. The relocation aims to comply with the city’s General Plan, which prohibits sand bases along the Ob River within Novosibirsk’s boundaries.

The new location is situated in the Pervomaisky district, near the Inya junction. The land, currently under the permanent ownership of MKU “Pervomaiskoye,” will be divided to accommodate the sand base.

MKU “DEU No. 1,” the operator of the municipal sand base, will apply to the Department of Construction and Architecture of the Novosibirsk City Hall for the allocation of the newly formed land plot.

The city administration had previously announced the termination of lease agreements with all sand bases, including private ones, by June 17. Companies were required to vacate the plots by June 20, or face legal action from the Central District administration.

The city plans to develop an embankment along the riverbank in the future, funded by developers.

Private base owners had previously expressed concerns that moving sand bases further from the city center would increase logistics costs and potentially raise the price of sand.
