The new A-289 highway to Crimea, opened in December in the Krasnodar Territory, has become a toll road with a 90 km/h speed limit and cameras. The road, transferred to the Avtodor Group in April, spans from Krasnodar to the Crimean Bridge.
Despite being a high-quality, two-lane road with lighting, rest areas, and even a gas station, the imposed speed limit of 90 km/h has been criticized. The regional authorities had initially indicated a possible speed limit of 120 km/h.
The cost of traveling the A-289 highway from Krasnodar to Anapa is 600 rubles one way, with an additional 750 rubles for the section to the Crimean Bridge. Payment can be made through the Gosuslugi website, the Pay.avtodor-tr.ru website, or banking applications.
Failure to pay within five days results in a 1,500 ruble fine for cars and 5,000 rubles for trucks. However, the fine is waived if the toll is paid within 20 days of the trip.
While navigation systems may not function correctly on the highway, ample signage is in place to guide drivers. Rest areas are available but may lack shade and shops. Gas stations with recreation areas are located along the route. Electronic panels display important announcements, such as the status of the Crimean Bridge.
