“Dashing 90s” Style Snack Bar to Open in Yekaterinburg

A “dashing 90s” style snack bar, called “Voyage”, is set to open this summer in Yekaterinburg’s “Glavny” gastromall, featuring rotisserie chicken and music from the movie “Boomer”. The new establishment aims to offer a unique dining experience, reminiscent of the 1990s.

Entrepreneur Dmitry Khomutov, along with chef Sergey Miroshnikov and investor Nikolai Galaguzov, are behind the project, operating under the legal entity LLC “Happymilf.” The snack bar will occupy a 27-square-meter corner in the gastromall, next to Kurum and OnTap bars.

The concept for “Voyage” was developed to stand out from other establishments in the area. The initial idea involved a kiosk similar to those found at bus stops, but it was deemed too bold for the gastromall’s design. Nikita Litvinenko, founder of the vintage store “Shuvakish,” suggested the name “Voyage” to evoke nostalgia and capture the atmosphere of the 90s.

The snack bar will also feature a mascot, an alien zoomer inspired by 90s fashion, with its flying saucer displayed on the banner and potentially the logo.

Adding to the retro theme, custom beepers, styled as cell phones from the 2000s, will be used to notify guests when their orders are ready, playing a melody from the movie “Boomer” instead of a standard vibration. The gastromall initially expressed surprise at the concept but ultimately signed a lease agreement with the team.

The menu, crafted with the help of chef Sergey Miroshnikov, a promoter of Ural cuisine, includes items such as eggplant saute, forshmak with green apple, sandwiches with three types of caviar, Olivier salad, and grilled chicken. Initially, a cheburek cafe was considered, but the idea was scrapped due to the presence of other cheburek options in the gastromall. Other potential menu items include meatballs with lingonberry sauce and french fries.

Khomutov’s previous works have garnered attention in Yekaterinburg, including the “Industrial Baby” sculpture in the VIZ district, created in collaboration with the art group LKKL for the “CHO” festival.
